Accelerating Innovation with 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping

At Plymouth Foundry, we recognize that time is a crucial asset in the commercial parts production and components service industry. That’s why we are committed to utilizing cutting-edge 3D printing and rapid prototyping technologies to streamline our manufacturing processes. Explore our 3D printing and rapid prototyping services.

Our approach incorporates two innovative methods to enhance speed and efficiency in prototype development. Firstly, our Fortus 250MC 3D plastic printer is pivotal in producing cost-effective patterns and core boxes for both prototyping and low volume production. With a work envelope of 10”L x 10”W x 12”H, this technology facilitates the swift creation of visual prototypes, reducing the need for traditional tooling investments.

Secondly, we collaborate with our suppliers to develop 3D printed molds and cores using both silica sand or ceramic sand, which allows for production without constraints on size or geometry. This method significantly refines our capability to test and modify designs rapidly, ensuring optimal performance and fit of the final product.

By integrating 3D printing and rapid prototyping into our operations, we significantly cut down on trial and error, leading to considerable savings in both time and cost, while achieving high precision in final products. This innovative process allows our engineers to make necessary adjustments to part characteristics after evaluating fit, tolerance, strength, form, durability, and finish.
